ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Julie began creating jewelry over fifteen years ago. She is talented, creative and qualified to teach just about anything: all types of metal and silversmithing, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), wire works, sheet metals, wire wrapping, fused glass, lampwork glass, wire and beading techniques. She has studied at the prestigious William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, at Rio Grande, and she is a certified PMC artisan. Her work can be seen at Gallery 782 in Biloxi, MS

 

Class description: 

This class is so much fun !! You will work with sterling silver sheet metal and wire to create a domed pendant that will house a half-drilled pearl. The wire is used to create a “cage” that will go over the pearl. You will then make and attach a bail, creating a fabulous sterling silver pendant.

  

You will Learn:  

Design a pendant, texture sterling silver, using texturing hammers, doming sterling silver, determine what solders to use in the different steps, solder a prong onto sheet metal, solder wire, make and attach a bail, attach a half-frilled pearl, using a torch, what flux to use , how to use flux, anneal, pickle, in and outs of using a disc cutter, clean metal, what gauge sheet metal works best, what gauge wire to use, how to create a “cage” to go over the pearl, filling, create and attach a bail,  polish/finish techniques.

 

Skills Covered:

What to Wear:

Comfortable or Old clothes .,,. And Please wear closed toe shoes you will be using a torch ...Apron, Latex gloves, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
